HOW WILL IT WORK?

How does angel investing work? What different kinds are there? Where can you find startups? How can you avoid common mistakes? And how can you support a startup from scouting over becoming profitable until the exit?

We’ll answer these questions and more - in a relaxed atmosphere, focused on you and your needs.

Getting started

To kickoff the program, you need to book a 2:1 session with us, Rui and Pedro, in which we will get to know you better. This meeting will represent the first step on your journey to professionalize your business angel career.

2:1 session

We will use the 2:1 session to get to know you, where you’re at and what you need from this program. Based on the answers of the whole cohort, we will adapt the live sessions.

Live sessions

This program will consist of a kick-off session and 7 weekly live classes on angel investing topics, where you can directly ask all your questions. Throughout the program, you will also have plenty of opportunities to get tailored support.

Practical experience

For the practical application of your knowledge, you will be given tasks throughout the program and get access to a real investment committee by COREangels Lisbon and Porto alongside experienced business angels, to watch startups pitching participate in the Q&A and discuss the opportunities with the angels.

Graduation

After finishing the practical experiences, we will have a final live session to answer any open questions and give you more input on the next steps for your business angel career. In the end, you will also get access to the entire course content with recordings and extra material.

Modules

We will focus on these five modules by combining theoretical input and practical experiences.

  • In this module, we will take a deep dive into topics such as angel investing basics, startup and angel life-cycles, definitions and mechanisms.

  • This module helps you to understand which angel type you are, your goals and to design your own investment thesis. Also to understand strategies and typical returns.

  • In this module, we will focus on startups: Where to find them, how to screen and select them, and how to have fair contracts for both sides.

  • Here, we will focus on the big difference between angel investors and other startup investors: The value-added collaboration between investor and startup and how you can support your startup from scouting to exit.

  • In this module, we will take a closer look into the Portuguese investor and startup ecosystem.

Dates and Information

All sessions take place Wednesdays, online, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm (Lisbon Time). The date for the practical experience in cooperation with COREangels Atlantic, Climate, Lisbon and Porto will be announced.

Speakers

  • This cohort is a special opportunity to learn live from our speakers for € 950.

  • The ticket price includes the participation fee for the entire program and all materials.

    Individual travel and accommodation costs for participating in practical experiences are not included in the ticket price. These can also be accessed online.

  • In order to guarantee the high quality of this special batch, the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 10. Places for the program are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

  • Prospective or active investors who have recently started investing in startups as angel investors and want to deepen their knowledge in this area are eligible to participate. This is not a course for the ones curious about the topic but for the ones planning to invest actively and want to professionalize their experience.

  • We expect participants to participate in the live sessions, engage in Q&A sessions, participate in the Investment Committee experience, and collaborate with other participants.

  • The whole program, including the 2:1 session, kickoff, classes and practical experiences, will take place from March until June.

    The weekly live classes will take place in April and May, the practical experience will be in May or June.

  • Our participants will join an investment committee by COREangels Lisbon and Porto alongside experienced business angels. The investment committee is the practical experience of our program and is a real live experience of being a business angel.

    The investment committee consists of startup pitches, Q&As with the startup and a discussion among the business angels, if they should invest in the startup or not.
